Each of Chloe Sells' works starts life as a simple photograph, created with her large format camera in Botswana, and is later transformed in her studio in London with darkroom manipulations and spontaneous experimentation. The resulting unique, technicolour, dreamlike images are brought together in the artist’s first innovative book, SWAMP.
The publication of SWAMP coincides with a new exhibition of work by Sells, ‘Under the Sun’ opening at Julie Saul in New York on 21 April – 11 June 2016. There will be special book signing to coincide with the exhibition preview from 6-8pm on Thursday 21 April.
Chloe Sells’ work will also be on display at the Michael Hoppen Gallery stand at PhotoLondon 2016 at Somerset House from 19-22 May 2016.
Born in Aspen, Colorado, Sells graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2000 with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, and gained her Masters in Fine Art from Central St. Martins in 2011. She currently lives and works between London and Maun, Botswana. The first solo exhibition of her work was held at Michael Hoppen Gallery, London in 2013.
